This model KP1105 is mostly made of aluminum to conserve weight. The tip is made of stainless steel because aluminum is too soft to withstand possible contact with the cutting blades.
The probe is electrically conductive as required in the standard. Also there is a threaded connector in the handle to accept either a force gauge or a banana plug wire connection.
